Brief
The original Morph4us project involved supporting young people to develop a community arts project that engaged with the local community and regenerated a public space. The aim was to break down social bariers and negative stereotypes of young people.
The project has moved on and secured funding from Arts Council England to develop an arts trail around the local community. The arts trail is to include artwork developed by young people engaging with other generations in the area.
Solution
The founding group members of Morph4us met every two weeks for one full year and they led the project from day one. The participants identified locations they wanted to regenerate with art, created a logo for the project along with a wide range of promotional material, and successfully involved the public in decisions about the artwork.
The following two years have seen additional artworks being created by new volunteers, both young and old, breaking down the social barriers to create a intergenerational project. As the current round of projects come to an end the group are focussing on how they make the next project even bigger and then how they promote the walking gallery (arts trail) to the general public. Watch this space!
