Brief
The diversity and equality department at Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service wanted to develop a youth led video that could be used in schools and colleges to encourage young females to consider the Fire Service as a potential career choice.
Solution
We recruited a group of female teenagers and began by asking if they would consider joing the service and if not, why not? The responses were varied but it became obvious that some stereotypical barriers, and myths based on fiction needed to be challenged.
The young girls worked with our team to plan and produce a film that presented the experience of a female who joined the force to become a fire fighter. This was combined with facts that tackled the myths and answered the questions our young girls had at the beginning of the project.
The group are proud to have produced such a high quality film that they helped to plan, produce and starred in.
