Brief
We were recruited to engage with young people in a Youth Centre to generate art-work that represented youth life, how they felt about the youth service and issues affecting young people.
Solution
Our approach was to let the young people be expressive to ensure we transferred how they really felt onto the wall, rather than messages that fit into the design of the artwork. The basic idea was to give the participants black marker pens, some inspirational books and the freedom to express themselves.
The resulting art-work made an instant impact on the environment. The young people felt a sense of ownership and a sense of pride. They felt their voices had been heard and respected.
