We use public art to regenerate community spaces, raise awareness or convey messages to a wider audience in a local area. Whether they like it or loath it... at least they notice it. We are well practiced in running participatory workshops and projects that allows people to create the art themselves at a professional level. Working with communities and asking for their ideas or feedback allows the local people to feel included, or develop a sense of ownership. This means the art-work just doesn't appear.
If people get a sense of pride or achievement from a piece of art they are more likely to appreciate it and more importantly - talk about it.
